MR. HAGGARD
ABOUT MR. HAGGARD
WHY I BECAME A TEACHER
-
Originally, I became a teacher to help prepare and guide students through the complicated world they will soon enter. As a teacher, it is a privilege to be in such a unique position to be part of the change I want to see in the world.
EDUCATION
-
I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a BA in English Literature in 2013.
EXPERIENCE
-
I began teaching in Los Banos, California as an AP Language and Composition teacher in 2014. I moved to Idaho in 2016 and taught 8th grade English. In 2017, I became a part of the Zion family.
FAMILY AND OUTSIDE INTERESTS
-
I am married to my wife of eighteen years. We have four children who range from 28 to 11. When away from school, I can usually be found doing a myriad of things – from helping neighbors, playing with my two dogs, reading (usually scouting good books for my classroom), watching football (go Steelers!), writing (poetry, science fiction and creative non-fiction), range time, or just hanging out with my kids.
WHY I TEACH AT ZION LUTHERAN
-
I teach at Zion because of the advanced nature of its classical curriculum. It also affords me the liberty of discussing and teaching about how/why God (and His word) are a part of everything I teach. Zion School will allow me to interact with some amazing kids and be part a team that is poised to build a new generation of leaders.
CLASSROOM MISSION STATEMENT
-
My mission as a teacher is to prepare and ensure the success of my students, so that they will be ready for the next level of their education. This will be accomplished by instilling in them a solid work ethic, a positive mental attitude, and the drive/desire to tackle the challenges that will surely await them.
